Exterior Renovation in Montclair, NJ

Project Overview

Combined exterior renovation involving siding replacement, driveway repaving, and new front steps. The home had faded shingle siding, a cracked asphalt driveway, and spalling concrete steps at the entry.

Analysis

The original cedar shingle siding had been painted but was peeling extensively. The asphalt driveway had wide cracks and settled areas near the street. The front steps were concrete with spalling surfaces and a rusted iron railing. The front door was original with a dated light fixture above.

Process

Siding replacement took four days. Driveway removal and repaving took two days with an asphalt subcontractor. Step demolition and rebuilding took three days including curing time. Door and light fixture installation completed on the final day. All work was coordinated to minimize disruption.

Outcome

The home has a completely refreshed exterior. The gray vinyl siding complements the bluestone steps and new door. The smooth driveway eliminates tripping hazards and improves curb appeal. The new entry door with sidelight brightens the front entrance.
