Kitchen Renovation in Paramus, NJ
Project Overview
Full kitchen renovation in a 1990s colonial home. The original kitchen had oak cabinetry, laminate counters, and a cramped layout with limited counter space. We reconfigured the layout to include a center island, updated all appliances, and finished with white shaker cabinets and quartz countertops.
Analysis
The existing kitchen footprint was functional but dated. Cabinetry was original to the home with worn hinges and damaged drawer fronts. The laminate countertop had burns and chips near the range. Fluorescent lighting made the space feel dark. The homeowner wanted a more open layout without moving any load-bearing walls.
Process
Demolition of existing cabinets, counters, and flooring took two days. We then ran new electrical circuits for the island, range, and refrigerator. Plumbing was relocated for the new sink position. Cabinet installation took four days followed by countertop templation and install. Backsplash, trim, and hardware completed the project.
Outcome
The new kitchen feels significantly larger with the island providing additional seating and prep space. The quartz countertops and subway tile give a clean, timeless look. Recessed lighting and under-cabinet LEDs improved visibility throughout. The homeowner gained a functional layout without changing the room footprint.
