Siding Replacement in Clifton, NJ

Project Overview

Full siding replacement on a single-family home. The original aluminum siding was faded, dented in several areas, and had bare wood exposed where siding had loosened. We removed all old siding, installed house wrap, and put up new vinyl siding with trim.

Analysis

Aluminum siding was original to the 1970s construction and had oxidized significantly. Several panels near the rear elevation were loose and pulling away. The house wrap underneath was torn in multiple places. Some sheathing showed minor water staining but no structural damage.

Process

Tear-off took one day. We replaced a small section of damaged sheathing near the rear door. House wrap and window flashing took one day. Siding installation took three days with a crew of three. Trim, J-channel, and coil wrapping completed on day five.

Outcome

The home has a fresh, clean exterior with low-maintenance vinyl siding. The light gray color complements the existing roof and neighborhood. Proper house wrap and flashing improve energy efficiency. PVC trim around windows resists rot and requires no painting.
